(Oct. 6) Natural and organic products supplier United Natural Foods Inc., Dayville, Conn., has announced replacing an existing three-year distribution agreement with Austin, Texas-based retailer Whole Foods Market Inc. in favor of a new pact extending to 2013.

United said it would continue to serve as Whole Foods’ primary natural grocery distributor in the U.S. regions it already covers for the chain.

“This seven-year agreement will allow us to concentrate our capital investment and resources on aggressively expanding our store base,” Whole Foods co-president and co-chief operating officer Walter Robb, said in a news release.

United said Whole Foods accounted for roughly 26% of its fiscal 2006 total sales.
