Beer has been chief operating officer for the company since joining it in 2000 and will continue to have those duties as he moves into the president’s role, according to a news release.
Phil Gilardi, co-owner and co-founder with his brother Frank Gilardi, has been president and is continuing his work for the company with a focus on strategic planning, customer development, supplier relationships and new business opportunities, according to the release. Frank Gilardi will continue as chief executive officer.
“Devon has brought a set of standards, guiding principles and disciplines to Freshway that have been a significant part of our growth and success during these past 14 years,” Frank Gilardi said in the release.
“During his time at Freshway, Devon has filled a role well beyond that of his official duties. I have confidence in his abilities and his commitment to serve our values, mission and vision as we move forward.”
In his new role, Beer will oversee day-to-day activities of both Freshway Foods and Freshway Logistics. The company’s executive team will report directly to Beer.
“What will not change is our focus on providing value to our customers and a positive work environment for our associates,” Phil Gilardi said in the release.
“Devon will be supported during this transition by our team of over 400 associates, all of whom are dedicated to the success of the company.”
The Gilardi brothers founded Freshway Foods in 1988. The fresh produce company has grown to serve 25 states in the eastern half of the U.S., providing fresh-cut, repacking, distribution and logistics services.
