Los Angeles-based shipper Green Earth Produce donated fresh avocados and promotional materials for the event. Green Earth partnered with the brewery, maker of Avocado Ale.
Food trucks served dishes featuring fresh avocados. There was an avocado-inspired art show as well. Most of the proceeds went to nonprofit Food Forward, a nonprofit that collects and donates fruits and vegetables to agencies serving the hungry.
“We provided participants nutritional information about avocados as well as avocado slicers, recipe booklets, stickers and other promotional materials,” Gahl Crane, managing director at Green Earth Produce, said in a news release. “We spoke to participants about growing avocados in California and around the world and the many different and creative uses of fresh avocados.”
