Cashmere, Wash.-based Crunch Pak showed packaging designs created through its licensing agreement with Marvel Worldwide Inc. to the trade in October at the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit. Initial packs shipped in the first quarter and a full roll-out is expected by the end of 2014, according to a news release.
The Snackers line is available at most supermarkets nationwide plus Target and Wal-Mart stores. Suggested retail price is $1.99 to $2.29.
Crunch Pak with Marvel Snackers are also a finalist in the new products award for best fruit item at United Fresh 2014, set for June 10-13 in Chicago. For the expo, Crunch Pak is scheduled for booth 132.
Besides sliced apples, the 4.75-ounce Snackers also contain cheese and either pretzels or seedless grapes.
The partnership aims to reach boys ages six to 10.
“Being able to pair our exciting characters with fresh produce is a natural fit and these new products are a hit with kids and families,” Michael Jerchower, Marvel director of licensing, said in the release.
“The fit with Marvel is perfect for our category,” said Tony Freytag, Crunch Pak senior vice president of sales and marketing.
