Kara Adanalian of Fresno, Calif., won the grand prize of a retreat for two to the Napa Valley Culinary Institute, according to a news release from Coral Gables, Fla.-based Del Monte.
The online contest, which began April 15, encouraged consumers to submit their own favorite recipes using Del Monte fresh fruits and vegetables.
Adnalian’s winning recipe was a red pepper and avocado stuffed chicken breast with a pastry gremolata and white wine reduction.
Four finalists from the recipes submitted online competed in a cook-off at the Miami Dade College Hospitality School-Miami Culinary Institute to determine the winner.
“We’re amazed at each finalist’s culinary skills and at their creativity in using specific ingredients, such as our Del Monte fresh fruits and vegetables, during this intense competition,” Dennis Christou, Del Monte’s vice president of marketing, said in the release.
Judges based their decisions on creativity, taste, presentation and use of Del Monte fresh fruits or vegetables.
