The Asian Sesame kit includes sesame seeds and an Asian dressing. The Mediterranean kit includes grated parmesan cheese and a basil garlic-infused olive oil dressing.
The company showcased the snap pea kits at the United Fresh trade show in Chicago, and is in the process of completing a rollout in the U.S. and Canada by July.
The suggested retail price is $3.99 to $4.99, according to a news release. The kits have a 16-day shelf life.
The kits can be prepared as a salad or a sauté. They can be served either as a side dish or, by adding protein, as an entrée.
The product was developed in response to the popularity of kits as well as sales of Mann’s sugar snap peas.
“Mann’s snap peas outsell the competitors’ five to one,” Kim St. George, director of marketing and innovation for the Salinas, Calif.-based grower-shipper, said in the release.
