Marco Garcia is now operations and logistics manager and George Pazos is the new controller for the San Diego company, according to a news release. Organics Unlimited president Mayra Velazquez de Leon said in the release the two men will help the company expand its distribution in the U.S. and international markets.
“We have an incredible opportunity in this emerging market,” Velazquez de Leon said of consumers’ increasing interest in organics in the release. She cited an October 2013 report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that showed organic food sales in the U.S. increased11% from 2011 to 2013.
Before joining Organics Unlimited, Garcia was regional logistics manager for six years at Heineken Mexico, where he also managed quality assurance. Pazos has more than a decade of experience in financial and human resources management, as well as having worked in sales for Andrews Produce Co.
“A major factor for my joining the team was the GROW program and the wonderful opportunities it provides for farm workers,” said Pazos.
The Organics Unlimited GROW label stands for “Giving Resources and Opportunities to Workers.”
