While I’m a big fan of frozen peas, I hadn’t found any fresh at the store where I live. I picked some up at Wegmans in Buffalo, N.Y., with high hopes that I could convince my husband to eat them. He’s never been a fan of peas, so maybe it was because we’re not used to fresh.
I think the idea of these is great, but they didn’t turn out as I’d hoped. They were both under and over cooked, if that makes sense, with a bit of a crunch and a slightly plastic-y flavor to them.
The best thing I could think of to do is toss ‘em in the blender with some sour cream and mint and celebrate the impending arrival of the London 2012 Olympics with tasty mushy peas.
