PEI Burger Love (www.peiburgerlove.ca) is a monthlong celebration of the island’s beef, and PEI restaurants will highlight hamburgers made with local beef throughout April, according to a news release from the Charlottetown-based board.
To complement the burger offerings, each Friday during April is “FryDay,” when consumers are encouraged to order PEI fries with their PEI burgers.
Diners who tweet or share a photo of their burgers and fries will have a chance to win a “FryDay” T-shirt or a 50-pound carton of PEI spuds.
“The board is excited to partner once again with PEI Burger Love, promoting fries made here on Prince Edward Island from the best potatoes in the world,” Greg Donald, the board’s general manager, said in the release. “Fries make a perfect pairing with burgers, so we think our involvement with PEI Burger Love made logical sense.”
Donald added that a number of PEI potato growers are also beef producers.
“We’re pleased to sponsor a promotion that highlights both commodities.”
