TNA’s robagFXIS 3ci promises double speed

CHICAGO — Coppell, Texas-based TNA North America Inc., which began shifting its focus to the U.S. last year and working with carrot giant Grimmway Farms on conveying scales and portable bagging, unveiled its vertical form fill and seal robag range, the TNA robagFXIS 3ci series, for polyethylene packaging, at Pack Expo Oct. 28-31.

Designed for performance, flexibility and simplicity, the new range features what the company bills as the “world’s first rotary advanced impulse sealing system for the efficient packaging of fresh or frozen vegetables, salads, ready-to-eat fruit … at bagging speeds of up to 150 bags per minute,” according to the company.

Michael Green, managing director for TNA Australia Pty Ltd, says the machine is ideal for carrots, apple slices and salads.

“This is a peak-performance, worry-free machine, and it’s got great initial ‘Wow!’ factor,” Green said. “We’ve had a lot of excitement about this at the show. People are saying they’ve never seen anything like this. It typically doubles the speed (of a typical competitor’s impulse sealers).”

“For many years, the fresh food industry has been limited by polyethylene films which are very difficult to seal at high performance and high speeds. This is the world’s first double rotary, flat-jaw impulse seal system,” Green said. “It is designed specifically for fresh and frozen foods to bring new levels of performance.”

The latest addition to the company’s robag 3ci line, “ensures more precise temperature control, maximum uptime, and an extended lifespan,” according to a company news release. “The TNA robagFXIS 3ci series can be added to existing packaging lines, and fully integrated with high performance TNA weighers, metal detectors, date coders and conveyors for a comprehensive and efficient packaging line.”

The company, celebrating its 30th anniversary, also showed off a new auto-splice system.
