Weather cuts into Northwest cherry volumes

Mother Nature has put a dent in the Northwest cherry crop.

Early estimates of 18.6 million boxes have now dipped under 17 million boxes, because of April frost followed by heavy May rains, said Eric Patrick, Yakima, Wash.-based marketing manager for Oakland, Calif.-based Grant J. Hunt Co.
