For the first time, the Maitland-based Sunshine Sweet Corn Farmers of Florida plan to run TV commercials in Midwestern and Eastern markets.
From April 14 through May 11, during the peak of Florida’s spring volume, the trade organization plans to air commercials on stations in Buffalo, N.Y., Indianapolis and Raleigh, N.C.
In cooperation with the Tallahassee-based Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the ads are part of the agency’s “recipes” TV campaign and plan to showcase easy recipes with Sunshine Sweet-branded corn and other Florida produce.
The campaign is part of a marketing effort to increase consumer awareness and Sunshine corn sales, Paul Allen, Sunshine Sweet’s president and vice president and co-owner of Pahokee, Fla.-based R.C. Hatton Farms, said in a news release.
“The growers experienced a tough start last year that was followed by a record May,” Allen said in the release. “This year we will be out there earlier with a stronger message for what is shaping up to be a great-looking spring crop.”
The agency has seen strong increases in brand awareness and purchase intents in the 10 Florida TV markets since first airing the commercials in 2013, Susan Nardizzi, the agency’s director of marketing, said in the release.
