Wenatchee, Wash.-based Oneonta Starr began shipping in early August, according to a company news release. Scott Marboe, marketing director, reported an abundance of size 90 and larger bartletts.
“There’s not much in the way of small fruit, but a very strong market for cannery will keep a stable price floor,” Marboe said in the release.
Quality was good on other Oneonta Starr pear varieties in early August, Marboe said.
“Red anjous and starkrimson are really looking good this season. There is excellent color at this time of year.”
Oneonta Starr also will ship boscs, forelles, comices, seckels, Asian and Red Sensation pears this season, Marboe said.
