I had a few more products picked up at the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit in Anaheim. Wada Farms, no stranger to microwaveable potato packs, offered up a new variety for those of us who like a quick and easy potato solution: Smalls.
Smalls are just what you’d imagine: a smaller size potato, available in gold and red, in a “right size” package perfect for smaller families or solo home chefs.
They’re tasty, the package is attractive, and so is the price: $1.99. I had a bit of a snag with the new microwave and maybe should have cooked a bit longer, but microwaves always vary so it pays to know yours before you try it.
Look out for your bananas
Way down on the end of the trade show floor, I found Cultured Containers, maker of the BananaBunker. I’ve tried out banana savers before, but this was an interesting idea and I just had to grab one. The BananaBunker retails for $3.99 in-store or $6.99 on the website http://www.bananabunker.com/. It’s designed to provide a rigid exoskeleton-like container that molds to the shape of your banana to protect it from getting smooshed in transit.
Well, take a look and see it for yourself.
