FFVA names Emerging Leader Program class

The Maitland-based Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association has named its inaugural class in its Emerging Leader Development Program, according to a news release.

The 10 participants are Rob Atchley of A. Duda and Sons; Andy Ballard of Hundley Farms; Heather Banky of U.S. Sugar Corp.; Michael Hill of Lakeshore Growers Inc.; Jennifer Hodges of The Andersons Inc.; Elizabeth Malek of Glades Crop Care Inc.; Justin Roberson of Lipman Produce; April Roe Porter of Wm. G. Roe & Sons Inc.; Adam Trott of Rabo AgriFinance; and Rachel Walters of Bayer CropScience.

To be eligible, participants had to be between 25 and 35 years old and be from a farming family or employed by an agricultural company.

The year-long program is designed to provide participants with in-depth knowledge into the issues facing agriculture and the education and tools to become more advocates for specialty agriculture.
