Anyone interested in growing pomegranates in Florida is invited to the Florida Pomegranate Association's field day, Aug. 22, at McTeer Farms in Haines City.
Participants will get to view about 40 different varieties that have been in the ground for four years. Grower Emory McTeer also will talk about how he cares for the crop.
In addition, Bill Castle, University of Florida horticulturist emeritus, and a staff member from the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center will be available to answer questions.
Lunch will be provided as part of the $20 register fee.
The event runs from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
