Washington, Pennsylvania and New York may have smaller apple crops, but Michigan's expected crop more than makes up for it.

The U.S. Apple Association released its estimate of 227.5 million 42-pound bushels.

The estimate is based on polling members who attended the association's recent marketing conference in Chicago.

The estimate is slightly higher than the U.S. Department of Agriculture's estimate of 226.5 million bushels.
