As harvest begins to wind down and you have time to catch your breath, start thinking about colleagues or others who have been strong potato industry advocates and leaders this season.
Acknowledge their contributions by nominating them for Potato Man of the Year or Potato Man for All Seasons.
The awards are sponsored by TheGrower.com and The Packer in conjunction with the National Potato Council.
The recipient will be announced at the NPC's annual award banquet, Jan. 9, 2015, in Orlando.
The Potato Man of the Year award recognizes somebody who has gone above and beyond the call of duty during 2014 further the potato industry.
This may have been somebody who spent countless hours representing the industry on trade missions or in front of regulatory agencies. Or it may be somebody who devoted a significant amount of time promoting the virtues of potatoes to consumers.
Past winners include Chris Voigt of the Washington State Potato Commission and Justin Dagen, former NPC president.
The Potato Man for All Seasons is a lifetime achievement award that recognizes someone who has spent his or her life bettering the potato industry.
Past recipients include Ben Kudwa, retired director of the Michigan Potato Industry Commission, and Gregg Halverson, president and chief executive officer of Black Gold Farms, who has been a strong supporter of potato-related research and education.
