Phoenix-based Tessenderlo Kerley Inc. has acquired Purshade and the accompanying trademarks, formulations, registrations, patents and other property from Purfresh Inc. of Fremont, Calif.

Purshade, a calcium-carbonate-based sunscreen product, will complement TKI's Surround Crop Protectant Line, kaolin clay-based sunscreen acquired from BASF Corp. in 2007, according to a news release.

As part of the acquisition agreement, TSI will drop its patent infringement complaint against Purfresh.

The Purshade business will be marketed and managed by TKI's NovaSource business unit.
