Topcon Positioning Systems of Livermore, Calif., has purchased the SGIS agronomy software business from AGCO Corp. of Duluth, Ga., according to a news release.

SGIS helps users convert crop yield and soil sample data into maps that can be used for multi-product and variable-rate applications, according to an SGIS brochure.

It works with controllers, such as Fieldstar and Falcon II.

Topcon Precision Agriculture, a subsidiary of Topcon Positioning Systems, develops and manufacturers satellite-guided positioning and guidance systems, electronic controls, mapping and monitors for agriculture.
