The California Department of Pesticide Regulation has posted a notice that it has decided to register methyl iodide, a fumigant marketed as Midas by Arysta LifeScience.
The department will accept comments through June 12.
The decision comes with a list of requirements that are admitedly stricter than the other states in which the fumigant is registered.
Among those are larger buffers, reduced application rates and acreage to be treated, and longer re-entry intervals.
