The Plant Management Network, a nonprofit publisher of agricultural and horticultural information based in St. Paul, Minn., has launched a new educational Web site, Focus on Potatoes.
The digital resource features Webcasts and other science-based informational tools for potato growers, consultants and Extension agents, according to a news release.
The main feature is the on-demand educational Webcasts that are authored by university professors and Extension specialists.
Each month, a new Webcast will be produced. Each will remain accessible for at least 30 days.
As long as users visit the site monthly, the Webcasts will be free without a subscription.
The topics are suggested by a technical advisory board and grower surveys.
Among the topics are zebra chip disease by Gary Secor, professor of plant pathology, North Dakota State University; managing nitrogen by Carl Rosen, professor and Extension soil scientist at the University of Minnesota; and potato late blight by Steve Johnson, Extension professor and Extension potato specialist, University of Maine.
