Three registrants of methyl parathion, a restricted-used organophosphate insecticide, have asked the Environmental Protection Agency to voluntarily cancel all product registrations.

The requests would end the last methyl parathon products registered for use in the United States on Dec. 31, 2012.

End-use products could not be sold after Aug. 31, 2013, and products could not be legally used after Dec. 31, 2013.
