Mystic Treat grapes, a trademarked variety from Giumarra, are shipping from Chile through March.
“We have enjoyed success with our niche Mystic Treat offering for several years,” said Craig Uchizono, vice president Southern Hemisphere at Giumarra Cos., in a news release. “We are happy to see increased volumes this season. The timing is really special for us due to the proximity of Valentine’s Day. We feel that promotional opportunities abound.”
Mystic Treat has medium to large-sized berries and is shipped in fixed weight 2-lb. clamshells, eight units per master case.
Giumarra first introduced the Chilean grape in 2004. This year they are expecting 100,000 boxes, said Megan Schulz, director of communications, in an e-mail.
