Israel-based Lead Technology is introducing a modular feeding system that is designed to save labor, maintenance, energy and space.

“Any packinghouse could use one machine to pack multiple types of fruit or vegetable,” said Shahar Carmel, head of marketing. “One cartoner could be used to pack dates, nuts, blueberries, strawberries, etc. into carton boxes, (and) it takes the operator less than a minute to change the feeding unit and start packing a new type of fresh produce.

“Packinghouses do not need multiple machines anymore to package a variety of products,” Carmel said.

Lead has created machines to handle numerous products, including mushrooms.

“We can build machines that package bagged lettuce, berry clamshells, bags of apples, and pretty much anything you can think of that is packed in a carton,” Carmel said. “Each machine is uniquely designed and manufactured, tailor-made according to the client’s exact needs, starting at our engineering department that prepares the specific machine drawings.”
