Farmers, particularly those who run small operations, are anxious as the Food Safety Modernization Act goes to the floor of the U.S. Senate, most likely today.


The ill would give the Food and Drug Administration expanded regulatory authority.


Small-scale operators in North Carolina say the regulations would cost them extra manpower and money, and they contend they're not the source of the recent foodborne illness outbreaks.
