Netherlands-based PerfoTec plans to introduce its Roadrunner “plug-and-play” top seal packaging machine integrated with its Laser Perforation System in the U.S. at the United Fresh Produce Association show and expo in Chicago.
The system was developed by package sealing company Proseal and PerfoTec for companies that want to test, “in a quick and simple way,” how the PerfoTec technology can extend the freshness of their fresh produce, according to a news release from PerfoTec. The United Fresh show is June 13-15.
The new technology measures the respiration rate of fresh produce and calculates the required film permeability to meet the needs of the produce, according to the release.
The system enables packers and processors of fresh produce to quickly and easily test how the PerfoTec technology extends the freshness of their fresh produce, according to the release.
“In the U.S., we import, export and ship large amounts of fresh produce across large distances,” Joan Rosen, the U.S. representative of PerfoTec, said in the release. “Product quality and waste are critical success factors and with the Roadrunner we can now quickly test and prove the benefit of our technology to U.S. packers and producers.”
