The University of California, Davis, will hold an online seminar Jan. 12 to address recent Food and Drug Administration changes in produce irradiation.

The Webinar, as the online meeting is called, is designed for produce growers, shippers, packers, fresh-cut processors, distributors, retailers and food service operators.

It will focus on the use of irradiation in fresh produce and recent changes to FDA regulations that have cleared the way for irradiation of fresh iceberg lettuce and fresh spinach.

The webinar is coordinated by the UC Davis Postharvest Technology Research and Information Center and co-sponsored by the UC Davis Center for Produce Safety, the Produce Marketing Association, the Food Marketing Institute and the National Restaurant Association.

It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Pacific Standard Time.

Speakers will include UC Davis faculty and industry experts.
