The U.S. Department of Agriculture released information showing the organic industry has grown domestically and globally.

The data says at the end of 2016 there were 24,650 USDA certified organic operations, including farms and other businesses that require certification, in the U.S., and 37,032 globally.

A 2016 count of U.S. organic farms and businesses indicated a 13% increase between the end of 2015 and 2016, continuing a trend of double-digit growth each year.

This marks the highest growth rate since 2008.
