Jim Allen, president
New York Apple Association, Fishers

I want to publicly congratulate Joe Procacci for receiving the United Fresh Produce Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

The name of the award says it all for Joe’s contributions to the produce world for decades.

Karen Caplan and Joseph Procacci.Courtesy United Fresh Produce AssociationKaren Caplan, president and CEO of Frieda’s Inc., talks with Joe Procacci, chairman and CEO of Procacci Bros. Sales Corp., Jan. 21 after he received the United Fresh Produce Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. His business achievements are too numerous to list, but his character, his business ethics, his word and his reputation stand tall and are respected across the land.

I suspect that those that may appreciate those traits as much as anyone would be those that competed with Joe in the business arena.

Being treated fairly and with respect sets the gold standard for good business for everyone.

Special congratulations to United Fresh for their selection and for the kind words by Tom Stenzel, United Fresh president and chief executive officer, given to honor Joe at the celebration and by industry leaders across the country, Karen Caplan of Frieda’s Inc., Jose Sanchez of Alpine Fresh Inc., and Joe Sheridan of Wakefern Food Corp.

It was a deserving honor to Joe, and to his wife Teresa, and his entire family.

It is families such as the Procaccis and events such as this that help make the produce business as great as it is. Well done by all!
