This week I received this email about a new social media campaign that promises good results from a thankful heart. Here is the text of the email I received from Schwan’s Home Service:
Hope you had a great holiday weekend! On behalf of Schwan’s Home Service, I wanted to let you know about an exciting partnership with Feeding America we thought you and your readers would be interested in.
This fall, Schwan’s and Feeding America will encourage consumers to share a few words for what they are thankful for. Schwan’s is making an initial 250,000 meal donation, and then invite you and your readers to share! Each “thankful” that is shared will trigger a five-meal donation to Feeding America. We’re also promoting “Thankful Thursdays,” where meal donations to FA are doubled each Thursday for the length of program – a great way to help us in the fight against hunger.
Readers can visit https://apps.facebook.com/schwansthankful to get started and let us know if you are interested in sharing with your readers on your blog or social channels!
Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your post! Let us know if you have any questions.
The campaign “Open the Door to Thankful” is more fully detailed in this press release. From the release:
On Aug. 30, 2013, Schwan’s Home Service will kick off its “Open the Door to Thankful” campaign. Each time a consumer shares a few words about something for which they are thankful on the Schwan’s™ Facebook app, Schwan’s Home Service will donate five meals* to Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization. The posts will also appear on consumers’ Facebook walls and there is no limit to the number of times one can post why they are thankful. The program runs through October 11, 2013.
“Sometimes, instead of feeling grateful for the important people or things in our lives, we take them for granted,” said Mike Gerend, president, Schwan’s Home Service. “Now, we invite people everywhere to take the time to stop and remember something for which they are thankful, share it, and, in the process, join us to help solve hunger.”
To launch the program, Schwan’s Home Service will donate an initial 250,000 meals to Feeding America and invite consumers nationwide to join and add to the donation with their own “thankfuls.” In addition, every Thursday during the campaign, until October 10, the meal donation for each “thankful” shared by consumers will be doubled to 10 meals to honor “Thankful Thursday.”
Kudos to Schwan’s for maximizing the impact of their donation through social media. We will follow the campaign with interest.
