Gary Wishnatzki, president of Wishnatzki Farms in Plant City, Fla., says Brock Farms Inc. and Brock Farms Sales and Cooling are well-run operations that will stay intact.

Wishnatzki Farms, one of Florida’s largest strawberry grower-shippers, is expanding its acreage through the purchase of a longtime central Florida growing and shipping operation.

Brock Farms Inc. and Brock Farms Sales and Cooling became part of Wishnatzki Farms on Nov. 17. President Gary Wishnatzki bought Brock’s 74 strawberry acres and cooling operations south of Plant City, as well as 36 leased acres.  Wishnatzki changed the Brock Farms name to Trapnell Road Farms.

The operation will pack berries as well as 50 acres of cherry tomatoes and grape tomatoes under the Brock Farms and Wishnatzki labels.

“It’s a well-run operation that is staying intact like before,” Wishnatzki said. “This will help us meet our customers’ demand for strawberries.”

The Brock expansion as well as other new acreage boosts Wishnatzki’s strawberry acreage to a little more than 1,000 acres.

Wishnatzki also has increased its organic strawberry production. The company now grows 25 field-grown acres of organic strawberries.
