The U.S. palate may be more sophisticated and worldly than ever, but sweet bell peppers are still the mainstay over the hotter varieties for many of the nation’s consumers.
JBJ Distributing Inc./Veg-Land Inc. has increased the organic green bell pepper program from its grower in Hollister, Calif., by 10% to 15%, said Dominic Etcheberria, general manager.
Prime Time International, Coachella, Calif., is adding a half-pound consumer bag of bell peppers to its 1- and 2-pound bag options, said Katy Johnson, marketing assistant.
Talley Farms Inc., launched a 100-acre organic bell pepper program, said sales manager Derek Sass. The company will market organic green and red bell peppers from mid-August through early November.
La Grand, Calif.-based Live Oak Farms is finishing installation of a new pepper packing line — a project that had been in development for a couple of years, said Ed Beckman, chief operating officer.
