AgroFresh Solutions Inc., which markets SmartFresh and other products to prolong the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, plans to focus on sustainability and curbing food waste at Fruit Logistica.

AgroFresh will be in Hall 21, stand D-02 during the global trade show, Feb. 5-7 in Berlin.

The company will be featuring a food waste meter that demonstrates that AgroFresh’s SmartFresh and Harvista products reduce food waste by an estimated 10,000 metric tons a day, according to a news release.

“AgroFresh has a long history of innovating to support the fresh produce industry, and our current lineup of near- and post-harvest solutions brings trusted science and data to help the entire supply chain extend the quality of fruits and vegetables and prevent food waste,” AgroFresh CEO Jordi Ferre said in the release. “Fruit Logistica is a great opportunity to share our latest developments and connect with other produce industry leaders.”

AgroFresh Products that will be on display include:

  • SmartFresh: The company’s original product, used to stop ethylene production in storage and widely uses on apples, pears, avocados and other crops to extend freshness;
  • FreshCloud Storage Insights:  Helps companies manage fruit quality and increase packouts; and
  • Harvista: A pre-harvest treatment for apples, pears and cherries that allow growers have more control on ripeness through regulating ethylene.
