Alsum Farms & Produce has set October 27 as the date for its second annual Tater Trot 5K Run/Walk, located at Alsum Farms in Friesland, Wis.
The event benefits local Future Farmers of America chapters, according to a news release.
“Alsum Farms & Produce is excited to host the second annual Tater Trot 5K to help support local FFA chapters and provide a unique opportunity to learn about the nutritional and economic benefits of Wisconsin potatoes,” said Nikki Jedlowski, Alsum’s logistics manager and Tater Trot 5K event coordinator, in the release. “Potatoes are a nutrient powerhouse and the Tater Trot 5K promotes the healthy, flavorful and fresh attributes of the spud targeting sports enthusiasts and athletes to fuel performance.”
The event will include activities for children, including a Kids Fun Run race around the potato shed and harvest activity stations, and all attendees can enjoy a fresh produce and vendor market, tours of the Wisconsin Spudmobile and photo ops with Spudly, the Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers mascot.
