Beachside Produce, Guadalupe, Calif., has three recent additions to its sales, procurement and organic departments.

The company hired Jim Gipe as senior account manager and commodity specialist, Adrian Espinoza as procurement and commodity coordinator — a new position at Beachside — and Marcos Perez in organic sourcing and sales.

Gipe’s introduction to the industry was early, with family members working for the Bruce Church Co., in Arizona and California, according to a news release, and he worked on irrigation equipment in Salinas, Calif., in his teens. He was a buyer and merchandiser for Sysco in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Gipe was at Dole Fresh Vegetables for six years, and was a district sales manager when he joined Coastline Produce in 2010 as a salesman. Most recently he was in sales at New Horizon Farms.

Espinoza’s role as procurement and commodity manager is a new one for Beachside. His father founded Big E Produce in Lompoc, Calif., where Espinoza initially worked. He has been the harvest manager at Epic Veg, Lompoc, and most recently was ag manager of operations for growers in Mexico at Western Pacific, according to the release.

Perez will focus on organics, as well as industrial programs and contract business at Beachside. He started in produce with processor Gold Coast Packing, Santa Maria, Calif., and he has experience in f.o.b. sales and wholesale distribution, according to the release. Most recently, he was at Innovative Produce, Santa Maria, in roles that included organic produce, business development and contract sales.
