Bob Montgomery, who has been in the produce industry for 38 years — the last 15 as Beachside Produce LLC’s sales manager, is retiring.

Montgomery started at H. Hall & Co., Salinas, Calif., after graduating, and was there for three years. In 1983, he joined Talley Farms, Arroyo Grande, Calif., where he was until 1994, when he joined Apio Inc., Guadalupe, Calif., according to a news release.

In 2003, Apio Inc. focused on fresh-cut and split off the fresh division (Apio Fresh), which became Beachside Produce LLC in November 2005. He has been grower-shipper Beachside’s only sales manager.

"It is a privilege to have been able to represent growers and to build relationships across the industry, resulting in a satisfying and successful career," Montgomery said in the release, adding that he looks forward to spending more time with his family.

"We are forever grateful to Bob's professionalism and diligence in continuing to build our company and he will be greatly missed as part of the Beachside family," Steve Adlesh, director of sales and marketing, said in the release.
