Fort Worth, Texas-based Ben E. Keith Company on Nov. 7 held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new foodservice distribution center in Albuquerque, N.M.

The addition of the new facility will allow the company to expand its foodservice distribution coverage deeper into the Southwest, according to a news release.

Construction of the 261,000 square-foot distribution center will begin immediately, and company officials say the facility is expected to be completed by November 2021.

The facility will feature Dematic Multi-Shuttles, Frick refrigeration and security systems, LED lighting, warehouse management systems, a test kitchen, and training center.

“As we continue to expand, Ben E. Keith Foods is honored to have the opportunity to serve the communities of the Southwest and support the rich culinary traditions so unique to this part of the country,” Mike Sweet, president of Ben E. Keith Foods, said in the release.

The project will create 90 new jobs over the next five years, according to the release, above the more than 100 individuals already employed by the company through its current distribution center in Albuquerque.
