To promote its new finely diced mushroom product, Monterey Mushrooms is partnering with a social media influencer who’s a pediatric dietitian and food blogger.
Shannon Garcia will help launch Monterey Mushroom’s Let’s Blend product in San Antonio. The 8-ounce packages are pre-seasoned with three options: classic, Mexican and Italian.
“People want to eat better without giving up flavor and texture, but not everyone is comfortable in the kitchen,” Monterey’s Lindsey Roberts, marketing manager, said in a news release. “Shannon uses multiple platforms to reach shoppers in an important market for us.”
Garcia was chosen because of her “ability to educate people about healthy eating in a fun, approachable way,” according to the release.
On March 5, Sonic Drive-In locations across the country began offering Signature Slingers, a burger with a ground beef/mushroom blend. Although Monterey isn’t a supplier to Sonic for the limited time burgers, the mushroom company’s vice president of sales and marketing, Mike O’Brien, said it’s great for the whole industry because it raises awareness of mushrooms and their versatility.
Garcia will demonstrate Let’s Blend in a Facebook Live video, use Monterey’s Instagram account for nutrition tips and recipes, and is scheduled to use the product on a “Great Day SA” segment (9 a.m. Central March 8) on the San Antonio CBS television affiliate, according to the release.
On March 9, Garcia is scheduled to do a Facebook Live segment from 10 a.m. to noon Central, and will post from Monterey’s Instagram account throughout the day.
