PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — Bravante Produce expects to start harvesting grapes in the San Joaquin Valley in late June or early July.

Once the season begins, it will continue through early December, sales manager Steve Shearer said May 12 at the West Coast Produce Expo.

“We’re basically just getting out the word to people of who we are and what we’re doing,” Shearer said. “We’re a produce company that’s been around for about 10 years. The grapes are relatively new, and we’re trying really build this domestic program with North American retailers... “We’ve got premium product,” Shearer said. “We just need to find the right people that appreciate what we do, so that’s what we’re here to tell them about.”

Shearer has been with the Reedley-based company for about two months and handles the grape category. He previously worked at Delano-based Castle Rock Vineyards.

Another new hire for Bravante is Eric Coy, also a veteran of Castle Rock. He will handle export sales in the grape category.
