California Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross will be the featured speaker at the California Citrus Conference.

The Oct. 11 event in Visalia, sponsored by the Citrus Research Board, will feature research developments and emphasize work on fighting huanglongbing (HLB).

“HLB, which has decimated the citrus industry in other growing regions throughout the world, has now been found in over 150 residential trees in California,” Citrus Research Board President Gary Schulz said in a news release. “Secretary Ross will convey to growers that the (California Department of Food and Agriculture) understands the urgency of find a cure for this devastating disease and stands foursquare behind the (Citrus Research Board’s) wide-reaching research efforts.”
