The California Avocado Commission expects a larger crop and longer season for 2018, and the group will discuss its plans for next year during the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit.

“Consumer demand for California avocados continues to be very strong, and CAC’s marketing support with participating retailers is yielding outstanding results,” Jan DeLyser, vice president of marketing, said in a news release. “We will continue with what’s working, explore new tactics and layer on additional support next year.”

One new element will be the promotion of avocado recipes certified by the American Heart Association as well as information about avocados and heart health.

The California Avocado Commission will not be serving dishes featuring its fruit at Booth No. 1033 this year — the season is finished — but registered dietitian Manuel Villacorta will be there to talk with fellow dietitians, including about his Avocado White Bean Dip recipe.
