Baloian Farms has organic spinach

Baloian Farms, Fresno, Calif., will offer organic spinach for the first time from early December through March, said Jeremy Lane, sales manager.

The firm also has hired Reiley Johnstone, most recently with an independent grocer, as transportation coordinator. Johnstone will secure and manage transportation for delivery to the company’s customer base and manage a cross-docking facility, Lane said.

 

Boggiatto buys Moceo Produce

Salinas, Calif.-based Boggiatto Produce Inc. has acquired Moceo Produce Inc., based in Santa Cruz, Calif., said Karen Campbell, general manager for Boggiatto.

The acquisition of Moceo, which specializes in Brussels sprouts, will enable Boggiatto to ship Brussels sprouts nearly year-round, she said. Boggiatto began growing Brussels sprouts itself last year.

 

Coastline Farms hires two

Industry veteran Robert Verloop, most recently executive vice president of marketing for Naturipe Farms LLC, Estero, Fla., and Tami Gutierrez, most recently vice president of sales for Ippolito International, Salinas, Calif., have joined Salinas-based Coastline Family Farms, said salesman Mark McBride.

As chief operating officer and general manager, Verloop will oversee Coastline Farms’ day-to-day operations, including sales and marketing, finance and accounting, quality assurance, IT, food safety, packaging and strategic planning.

Gutierrez will serve as vice president of sales and marketing. Both are new positions for Coastline Family Farms.

 

New website due from North Shore

North Shore Greenhouses Inc., which markets North Shore Living brand herbs and microgreens, plans to launch a website early next year in conjunction with an ongoing rebranding project, said Chris Wada, marketing manager.

The company also will promote its products through blogger-influencers and various social media sites, he said.

A buyer-oriented site will provide produce buyers with information tools and merchandising plans and possibly username logins for customer-specific pages, Wada said.

 

Peter Rabbit adds food safety rep

Leo Soto, who previously worked for an area labor contractor, has joined Peter Rabbit Farms, Coachella, Calif., as food safety coordinator, said John Burton, general manager of sales and cooler.

The company also added organic medjool dates to its product line. It has grown dates for more than 12 years.
