The deadline to apply for the Frieda Rapoport Caplan Family Business Scholarship is approaching.
Applications are due by Aug. 15, according to the United Fresh Produce Association.
Scholarship recipients receive air fare and hotel, and full registration at United Fresh’s Washington Conference Sept. 24-26.
The scholarship program allows recipients to meet hundreds of produce industry leaders from across the country in Washington, D.C., and engage with Congressional leaders and administration officials, according to a news release.
Karen Caplan and Jackie Caplan Wiggins established the program in 2001 in honor of their mother, Frieda Rapaport Caplan, who is celebrating her 95th birthday Aug. 10.
Scholarship recipients must be employed by a family business in the industry that is a United Fresh member company, and also be a first-time Washington Conference attendee.
