Jack Cain Sr., a long-time employee of Catalytic Generators, Norforlk, Va., died Oct. 17. He was 85.

He worked at Catalytic Generators for 38 years, showing the fresh produce industry ethylene application systems to prepare ready-to-eat fruit, according to a notice from the company. He helped introduce new products to the industry and forged many relationships throughout North America.

Cain retired in 2015 as vice president of Catalytic Converters.

“Jack was more than just a work associate or vendor, he truly was a dear friend,” Greg Akins, CEO and president, said in the notice. “With his positive attitude, friendly demeanor and sense of humor, Jack made many friends in the produce industry. He will be missed.”

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jeanette, and children Jack, Sherry and Debbie.
