C.H. Robinson, Eden Prairie, Minn., plans to purchase Prime Distribution Services.

Prime Distribution Services “provides a comprehensive suite of retail consolidation solutions, including distribution, fulfillment and inventory management,” according to a news release from C.H. Robinson.

The deal will be for about $225 million in cash, according to the release. Prime Distribution had $108.7 million in total revenues in 2019.

“Prime Distribution Services is a high-quality growth company that brings scale and value-added warehouse capabilities to our retail consolidation platform, adding to our global suite of services,” Bob Biesterfeld, C.H. Robinson CEO, said in the release. “Prime has an outstanding track record of success, a talented and experienced team and a focus on delivering great value to its customers and carriers.”

Prime Distribution has five U.S fulfilment and distribution facilities with a total of 2.6 million square feet, serving about 140 customers, according to the release.

The purchase will give C.H. Robison’s North American Surface Transportation business synergies and capabilities, with advantages for customers delivering to retailers, Mac Pinkerton, president of that division, said in the release.
