C.H. Robinson, Eden Prairie, Minn., has promoted Michael Castagnetto to president of Robinson Fresh.

He succeeds Jim Lemke, who retired this year.

Castagnetto joined C.H. Robinson in 2005 and has been in a number of positions at the company, most recently as vice president of global sourcing for Robinson Fresh for four years, and director of global sourcing before that. At C.H. Robinson, he was a sourcing manager and then general manager of tropicals and dry vegetables, according to a news release.

He started in the industry at Foodsource LLC in Monterey, Calif., for six years, leaving in early 2005 when he was director of operations to join C.H. Robinson.
At C.H, Robinson/Robinson Fresh, he was a key player in the evolution of the fresh business, according to the release.

He reports to C.H. Robinson President and CEO Bob Biesterfeld.

“He is a strong leader with a proven track record of establishing successful teams built on trust, common goals and communication,” Biesterfeld said in the release. “His many years of leadership across all aspects of the business position him well to lead Robinson Fresh into the future, and I’m pleased with his appointment to this role.” 

C.H. Robinson created Robinson Fresh in 2014.
