The Chuck Olsen Co. Inc., Visalia, Calif., has been stepping up its load consolidation service to better serve its customers and should see a big jump in grape volume this season, said Jeff Olsen, president.
The company expected to have 10% to 15% more table grapes this year, he said.
Foodservice buyers order a large number of grapes, he said, “a lot more than you would think.”
Grapes generally hold up well and are easy to handle at foodservice and easy to eat, he said.
Other items the company offers foodservice operators include lemons, oranges, cantaloupes, honeydew melons and grapes.
