Like other Earthcycle packaging, the new containers have a 20% shelf life improvement over PET clamshells, according to a news release from CKF, which makes and markets the EarthCycle brand packaging.
The new packaging, which will be on display at the Fruit Logistica expo Feb. 5-7 in Berlin, is:
The EC 865, a top sealable punnet that is well-suited to cherries, blueberries, strawberries and tomatoes. It fits eight down in standard master cases and is well-suited to automated packing.
The EC 210, a two-count avocado tray which is compatible with flow-wrap machines and fits 10 down in standard master cases.
Earthcycle packaging is certified home compostable, according to the release.
“The sustainable packaging value proposition is no longer just about the end of life for packaging,” Brad Dennis, vice president of sales and marketing. “Our value to the retailer and packer alike is to provide a clear benefit in terms of shelf life, reduced waste, less plastic, improved sales and ultimately a lower carbon footprint.”
CKF’s booth at Fruit Logistica is in Hall 23, stand A-15, in the Canadian Pavilion, according to the release.
