The berries will be marketed under the Crystal Valley and Superior Berries labels starting with the new season in April, with shipments lasting through the end of the May, according to a news release.
Superior Berries began production in 2003, and the company has more than 200 acres in Fargo, with plans to add 100 more in the next year. The hand-picked berries are primary Southern Highbush blueberries, including Meadowlark, Patricia and Kee Crisp varieties, according to the release.
“With their experience in growing and packing blueberries, along with their seasoned management team, focus on the cold chain and research and development, we are confident that we will be offering the best, premium quality fruit this spring,” Katiana Valdes, director of marketing and business development for Crystal Valley Foods, said in the release.
Michael Bruorton, general manager for Superior Berries, said the company stresses quality, taste and shelf life.
